Beaufort ( "byew-furt", unlike its Beaufort, North Carolina in North Carolina) is located on Port Royal Island, in the heart of the Sea Islands and South Carolina Low Country The city is renowned for its impressive harbor and for maintaining a historic character through its impressive antebellum architecture. The city is also known for its military establishments, being located in close proximity to Parris Island and a USNH Beaufort Naval Hospital, in addition to being home of the Marine Corps Air Station Beaufort.In most recent evaluations, 8% of people in Beaufort, South Carolina have contemplated getting cosmetic surgery done for a nose job.Several months after hostilities began between the states, Beaufort was occupied by Union forces following the Battle of Port Royal.
